Former Katz adviser takes position at city clerk's department

A former top adviser to Mayor Sam Katz has taken a new job with the City of Winnipeg.

Sherwood Armbruster, who served as Katz’s chief of staff from 2007 to 2009, is returning to the city to work for the city clerk’s department, City Clerk Richard Kachur announced in an email.

A lawyer by training, Armbruster spent a total of five years working for Katz before he left the city in 2009 to work for Siloam Mission. Armbruster’s new title is senior committee clerk and special projects manager.

"He brings forward a strong knowledge of our working processes and procedures, and he excels in personal leadership and providing the highest level of professional integrity in all situations," Kachur said in his email.

The city clerk’s department manages the legislative process at city hall as well as elections for the city and school divisions that operate within Winnipeg.
