Musician and children's entertainer Fred Penner has been honoured for his career and humanitarian work today.
Penner was honoured by the DASCH Foundation - which supports adults living with intellectual disabilities in group homes - at its 12th annual recognition awards luncheon.
Guests included Lieutenant-Governor Philip Lee, Mayor Sam Katz, and family services minister Kerri Irvin-Ross.
Lee said of the organization's honouring of Penner "I can't think of a better combination with this organization committed to improving the lives of children and adults."
Katz said Penner was "truly a great human being who does so much for his community."
DASCH has 55 group homes with 300 residents and 700 staff.
