Friend saves man who was set ablaze

A quick-thinking friend saved a 26-year-old man from serious injury after four suspects set him on fire outside a bar early Saturday morning.

RCMP Sgt. Line Karpish said the man was outside the Thompson Inn about 2 a.m. when he was sprayed with a flammable substance and a match was thrown at him, setting his clothes on fire.

"A friend of the victim intervened and was able to extinguish the flames," said Karpish. The victim was treated and released.

Police are looking for four suspects, all described as male and aboriginal in appearance.

Anyone with information on this matter is urged to contact the Thompson RCMP Detachment at 204-677-6909.
