Rain has forced the cancellation of tonight's Winnipeg Goldeyes spring-training camp at Shaw Park against the Sioux Falls Canaries.

Crews put the tarp on the infield at mid-afternoon and despite the hope that the precipitation wouldn't continue all evening, team officials from both sides decided safety would prevail.

The Goldeyes, who won their first two pre-season starts, will now have a practice day Thursday before taking off for a two-weeks-plus swing that will see them play four more pre-season games (in Lincoln, Neb., and Kansas City) before the team starts its American Association regular season May 15 in Amarillo, Texas.

Anyone holding a ticket for tonight's game at Shaw Park can exchange it for any regular-season ticket.
