Grand Beach awarded environmental blue flag

A new environmental designation is set to fly over Grand Beach’s West Beach today.

Conservation and Water Stewardship Minister Gord Mackintosh and Rural Municipality of St. Clements Mayor Steve Strang will raise the official blue flag over the beach along with Blue Flag program co-ordinator, Brett Tyron.

The Blue Flag is an eco-label which has been awarded to almost 4,000 beaches and marinas worldwide.

The program works towards the sustainable development of beaches and marinas based on water quality, environmental information and education, environmental management, safety and other services.

The blue flag will be raised over the beach at 1 p.m. today.
