RCMP officers detour vehicles heading north from Brandon on Highway 10 after a head-on collision between a semi trailer and another vehicle on Highway 10 south of Forrest on Friday evening.

One person is dead from a head-on collision Friday night between a semi truck hauling fertilizer and a pickup truck, on Highway 10 about eight kilometres north of Brandon.

The driver of the pickup truck did not survive. The semi driver was uninjured.

The driver of the pickup has been identified as a 23-year-old Brandon man. His name will not be released.

Six people have died in highway collisions in Manitoba so far this month.

The collision occured at about 8:45 pm. The pickup truck appeared to be going southbound and the semi northbound. The crash sparked a fire on both vehicles but it didn't reach the load of dry fertilizer.
