Heat won't last until long weekend
Enjoy today’s summer-like temperatures because they’re not going to last.
Environment Canada says the Victoria Day long weekend is shaping up to be a cool one, with daytime highs expected to be in the high teens or low 20s.
That’s a big step down from Thursday, when the mercury hit 29.5 C. And today is looking to be just as hot, with an expected high of 29 C under a mainly sunny sky.
The shift to cooler temperatures will begin later today when the clouds roll in, bringing with them the risk of thundershowers this evening and overnight.
The temperature is expected to drop to an overnight low of 16 C, and isn’t likely to improve much on Saturday, with an expected high of only 18 C under a cloudy sky.
Saturday is also expected to be a rainy day, with showers beginning in the morning and continuing until late in the afternoon. But the clouds are expected to clear out in the evening, making way for a sunny day on Sunday and a daytime high of about 21 C.
The final day of the long weekend is expected to see a mix of sun and cloud, with a high of 18 C and a low of 8 C.
Next week looks to be cloudy and rainy from Tuesday through Thursday, with daytime highs between 18 C and 20 C and overnight lows of between 10 C and 12 C.
