A hiker was rescued after experiencing extreme abdominal pain in Whiteshell Provincial Park, Lac du Bonnet RCMP said Monday.
RCMP received a distress call Monday around 9:30 a.m. from the hiker on the Mantario trail near Moosehead Lake in the Whiteshell.
The hiker was with two other people. All three are from Winnipeg.
RCMP rescued the hiker with the help of a float plane from Adventure Air in Lac du Bonnet.
The hiker was taken to hospital by ambulance.
It’s the second rescue by Lac du Bonnet RCMP of a hiker in recent days.
Two men were stranded while hiking the Mantario trail over the weekend.
Around 3 a.m. Saturday, RCMP got a call from the hikers, one of whom was injured and couldn’t carry on with the trail. As weather conditions worsened overnight, the pair called for help.
The Manitoba Conservation and Water Stewardship and a floatplane helped the RCMP rescue the missing hikers at Ritchey Lake around 4 p.m. Saturday.
RCMP warn hikers to bring cellphones with them and have provisions to make a fire. They also say hikers should check local weather conditions and let others know where they are going and when they are expected to arrive at their destination.
