Historic hotel/music venue to reopen Friday

After being closed for more than a year for repairs and renovations, the Royal Albert Arms is apparently opening on Friday at 5 p.m.

The bar at the historic hotel/music venue, located in the Exchange District at 48 Albert St., will have a "soft" opening only, with a grand opening planned for later this month, according to its Facebook page. A photo of the establishment’s liquor licence was also posted.

The Royal Albert Arms closed in May 2011 when a broken water line flooded the building’s basement. City crews got the leak under control, but left the hotel in charge of repairs because the break was located on private property.
