Home invasion in Portage la Prairie injures homeowner

A homeowner was assaulted after two disguised robbers invaded a house over the weekend, RCMP in Portage la Prairie reported Monday.

Two 18-year old men, one from Carman and the other from Portage, were later arrested. They remain in custody.

RCMP were called to the house on 17th Street NW in Portage la Prairie just before 7 a.m. Saturday where they found the injured homeowner, who was later treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The incident occurred at 6:30 a.m. when the homeowner reported hearing banging on the door and opened it. The suspects, one armed with a sword and the other with a baseball bat, pushed their way inside. The homeowner was assaulted and the invaders fled, police said.

Toban James Roulette, 18, of Carman and Jagger James Beaulieu, 18, of Portage face armed robbery, assault and weapons related charges.

The RCMP continue to investigate.
