Winnipeg police have identified the city’s 12th homicide victim as 33-year-old Michael Charles Parker.

Shane Kenneth Pruden, 40, has been charged with second-degree murder.

Although Parker was found by officers outside a residence on Notre Dame Avenue around 11:30 p.m. Thursday night, Const. Robert Carver said this morning that investigators have concluded that the victim suffered his fatal injuries in the parking lot of a hotel in the 1300 block of Notre Dame.

Because police are still interviewing witnesses, they are not disclosing the nature of Parker’s injuries, and are not saying whether a weapon was involved.

"It does not appear robbery was the motive," Carver told reporters this morning.
