Hot Thursday weather won't last for long weekend

Fire up the air-conditioner and dust off the fans. It’s going to be hot for the next couple of days.

Environment Canada said the temperature is expected to climb to 29 C today and Friday, before cooling down a bit for the first two days of the Victoria Day long weekend.

The forecast also calls for lots of sunshine today, with the wind coming out of the south at about 20 km/h. There’s a risk of a thunderstorm this evening, with the temperature expected to drop to an overnight low of about 14 C.

On Friday, the clouds will start to roll in, with showers or thunderstorms beginning in the evening. The wind will be out of the south at about 30 km/h during the day, before shifting to the east late in the evening as the temperature drops to about 14 C.

Saturday is shaping up to be a cloudy day, with a 40 per cent chance of showers and an expected high of 22 C and a low of 17 C.

But the sun is expected to return for Sunday and Monday, with a high of 20 C on Sunday and 27 C on Victoria Day.

The forecast also calls for lots of sunshine on Tuesday, with a high of 22 C and a low of 9 C. But the clouds are expected to return on Wednesday, bringing a 60 per cent chance of showers and a high of 22 C and a low of 11 C.
