Idle No More events planned for weekend

More local demonstrations are set to take place this weekend as part of the national Idle No More movement, which aims to promote First Nations' rights in Canada.

A demonstration organized by Aboriginal Youth Opportunities is set to take place in front of the Legislative Building Friday, beginning at noon. Over 1,700 people had responded to a Facebook event for the demonstration as of Wednesday afternoon.

This will follow a rally taking place from Greenwood Inn on Wellington Avenue to the airport Saturday morning.

Other Winnipeg events planned include flash mobs at Portage Place and the Polo Park shopping centres, which will take place Saturday afternoon.
