It's not hoarding if it's magic wands

  • Print

Steve Chmara might be the only person in Winnipeg to have a drawer marked "Wands."

The city magician has a collection of hundreds of magical devices he's amassed over the years while performing across North America.

Among his collection are items that date back to the British Victorian era and an item that appeared on Antiques Roadshow.

In Saturday's Free Press Detour writer David Sanderson checks out some of Chmara's contraptions and also reveals a magic shop in California that has 26,000 square feet of tricks.

And that's no illusion.

Watch a video on Steve's collection and a one-take shot of his cups and balls routine below.
