It's the most wonderful... er, coldest, time of the year

It'll be a clear and cold Christmas.

Environment Canada is calling for a sunny day with a high of just -23 C today, and the temperature drops to -28 C overnight.

For Christmas Day, expect another sunny day with a high of just -24 C.

The sunshine continues as the week winds up. Early risers on Boxing Day will be treated to a frigid morning, with the temperature hovering around -25 C but warming to -17 C by mid day.

And on Friday, expect a mix of sun and cloud and a high of -16 C.

There is no snow in the forecast for at least the next six days.
