Kane Biotech signs new agreement with U.S. Army
Winnipeg’s Kane Biotech Inc. has signed a new cooperative research and development agreement with a division of the U.S. Army’s medical research operations.
Kane is developing products that prevent and remove microbial biofilms, a major cause of a number of serious medical problems including chronic infections and medical device related infections.
The new agreement is with the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR) in Fort Sam Houston, Texas. This agreement replaces the original agreement that was previously signed with the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.
The objective of the research is to develop an antibiofilm-antimicrobial wound gel formulation. It will address the needs of the United States Army Dental and Trauma Research Detachment’s (USADTRD) programs that can be readily translated into clinical testing for improving the outcomes of wounded casualties.
