Mayor Sam Katz is continuing to keep his political future a secret.

Just back from D-Day commemoration events in France as a member of the Manitoba delegation, Katz told reporters this morning that he’s not yet ready to disclose whether he’ll be running for re-election.

Katz had said several times that he would make his decision in June but gave no specific date.

"And how many days are there in June," Katz quipped when asked this morning if he would make his announcement.

Katz made his comments following his announcement to mark the first Bike Week Winnipeg – an announcement in the courtyard at city hall that resulted in mayoral candidate Brian Bowman delaying the start of his first campaign policy at the same location.

Katz said he expects to announce his decision shortly.

"You will know my personal decision in the near future."
