A prominent land developer in the RM of Macdonald is offering to match community donations up to $15,000 to help fund construction of a new La Salle Community Centre.
The Ventura Group's 'Community Challenge' runs for the month of December.
Ventura has contributed $45,000 and its Joint Venture Challenge has contributed $40,000 towards the new centre.
The Clayton Manness family, which is a partner in the land development projects there, has donated $20,000. Manness was a Manitoba finance minister in the Filmon government.
Maple Leaf Construction and Stantec Engineering have also put in $10,000 and $5,000 respectively.
Ventura, headed by president Cliff Penner, is behind a large development in La Salle, on Winnipeg's southern boundary, called Prairie View Lakes.
Contributions will go toward construction of soccer pitches, softball and fastball diamonds, football fields and a curling club, in La Salle. Phase Two includes a splash park, tennis courts and a play area for children.
Previously, Ventura constructed the La Salle walking bridge over the La Salle River.
