Labour Council picnic to celebrate workers

  • Print

In celebration of all workers, the Winnipeg Labour Council is once again hosting a picnic this holiday weekend.

The picnic will take place on Monday at Vimy Ridge Park following the annual Labour Day march from the Manitoba Legislature. The march is scheduled to run from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., with the picnic festivities getting underway at 2:30 p.m.

"Labour Day is more than just a day off," Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) president Kelly Moist said in a statement. "It is a time to gather as a community to reflect on the contributions of working people to our community, and the challenges they still face."

Free hot dogs, family entertainment and various displays and municipal vehicles available for viewing will be a part of the labour-themed afternoon.
