Police investigating Alexander Avenue shooting

Several police cruisers rushed to the scene of a shooting late Saturday night.

A person was shot in the upper thigh at 612 Alexander Ave. at about 10 p.m.

By 10:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service tactical unit had surrounded a building on Alexander Avenue a few blocks west of Sherbrook Street.

It was believed the suspects in the shooting were inside.

The police helicopter was also on the scene, circling overhead. At midnight, the squad had not yet moved into the building.

Two blocks of Alexander Avenue were taped off, but traffic continued to move along Sherbrook Street.

The condition of the shooting victim is unknown.
