Live council coverage Wednesday

Join reporter Jen Skerritt as she tweets live from Wednesday morning's city council meeting where council will vote on:

- A plan to finance construction of the South District police station through a public-private partnership. A city report recommends Winnipeg budget $18 million and award Shelter Canadian Properties the contract to build the police station on Grant Avenue.

- A plan to spend $71,000 to fund the Downtown BIZ's community outreach patrol program to cover its cost before it transfers over to Winnipeg police cadets. The cadets will take over the program starting July 1. The move needs to be approved by city council and the province, which will contribute matching funds.

-A proposal to spend an extra $61,000 to complete the construction of the new Sage Creek fire station.

-Requests to extend heritage tax credits to two companies that want to renovate historic downtown buildings. Boca Raton, Fla.,-based owners of 111 Lombard Ave. asked Winnipeg to extend the 10-year tax credit over a period of 20 years to invest $23.5 million to redevelop the former Brick's Fine Furniture building. Public Capital Company, a California-based group, asked the city for a 15-year heritage tax credit to spend $8.5 million to redevelop the Canada Building at 352 Donald St.
