Robertson gives readers a look "from the inside out"

Lloyd Robertson hasn’t seen it all, but he’s pretty close.

The veteran news anchor stopped by the Winnipeg Free Press News Café this afternoon to talk about his more than half-century of bringing the news to Canadians.

He’s also on a book tour promoting his autobiography, The Kind of Life It’s Been.

He covered such world-changing events as the first moon landing, John F. Kennedy’s assassination, Trudeaumania, Terry Fox’s attempt to run across Canada and 9/11.

He still recalls the morning of the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001 as he received a phone call from his newsroom after a late night at the office.

"I’m being wakened up in the middle of a nightmare," he said. "Most people had seen this event from the outside in, so I decided to do it from the inside out (in the book)."

He’ll be at McNally Robinson Booksellers at Grant Park Shopping Centre at 7:30 p.m. tonight.
