A Winnipeg couple found some good fortune this month.

Less than a week after winning thousands of dollars on a $5 Set for Life scratch lottery ticket, Michael Homeniuk and Patty Leganchuk became Winnipeg’s newest millionaires when they uncovered an even bigger windfall.

The pair won $1 million on Jan. 9 -- six days after winning a $10,000 prize playing the same game.

"I never thought this would happen again. I must have a guardian angel," Homeniuk said in a release.

"He calls me his good luck charm," Leganchuk added.

The lucky couple have modest plans for the money. Once they pay some bills and help out a few family members, they’ll be looking at buying a new car and a new television.

The two winning tickets were purchased in the Garden City area.
