Main Street hotel fire quickly doused

Winnipeg firefighters extinguished a blaze in a Main Street hotel early this morning after a mattress caught on fire.

Crews were dispatched at around 3 a.m. this morning to a hotel in the 700 block of Main Street, a Winnipeg Fire and Paramedic Services spokesperson said.

A mattress broke out in flames in a third-floor suite and the fire was quickly extinguished. No one was injured.

The third floor of the hotel sustained smoke and water damage. No damage estimate is available.

The incident is currently under investigation.
