Universities and colleges should require some form of compulsory community service to help repay society for underwriting their education, New Flyers president Paul Soubry told university presidents today.
And there should be some element of financial and economic literacy built into all courses, he told the spring meeting of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada.
Students today think and work multidimensionally --- schools and business need to rethink how they train those students, he said.
Soubry said he prefers to hire candidates with a wide range of interests and experiences, who can fit into a team; he can train the skills the job needs.
