Man, 32, charged in death of cyclist
Winnipeg police have laid charges in the death of a cyclist who was killed Sunday morning after being struck by a vehicle driven by a man who was allegedly intoxicated.
Jesse Coutu, 32, was charged with impaired driving causing death and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
The accident occurred just after 4 a.m. near the corner of Regent Avenue West and Brewster Street. The cyclist was travelling westbound on Regent Avenue when he was struck.
He was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later died.
Police are not releasing his name.
