Man arrested after Swan River assault released

Marvin Flett, who allegedly assaulted a 36-year-old victim in Swan River, has been released after promising to appear in court.

Swan River RCMP responded to a residence on Aug. 11, where they had heard an assault had taken place, only to find a 36-year-old victim with serious injuries.

On August 14, Marvin Flett, 47, was charged in relation to the incident. He is facing a number of charges, including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

A 17-year-old youth is also facing charges, including assault, in relation to the incident and the youth was also released on a promise to appear in court. Both Flett and the youth are scheduled to appear in Swan River Provincial court on Oct. 17, 2012.

Since receiving medical care, the victim has been released from hospital.
