Man arrested after gas bar robbery

Winnipeg police have made an arrest in the robbery of a gas bar on Portage Avenue.

The robbery that occurred Friday at 5 a.m. involved a man who demanded cash and cigarettes from the gas bar attendant and then drove away.

Patrol units were notified about the suspect's car and he was located shortly after in his vehicle farther west along Portage and arrested without incident.

Stefan Dion Meakins, 21, of Winnipeg has been charged with robbery with theft and has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
