Man arrested after weapons, armour seized

  • Print

A Winnipeg man remains in custody following a large weapons bust in the north Elmwood area earlier this week.

Over the weekend, members of the Winnipeg Police Service and the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team became involved in a weapons investigation at a residence in the 500 block of Trent Avenue.

A warrant was obtained and on Monday, a search of the premises uncovered a number of handguns, shotguns and rifles. Twenty-one weapons were seized, along with some body armour, a stun gun, brass knuckles and a butterfly knife.

Trevor Allan Zayac has been charged with numerous weapons-related offences for his alleged involvement.

The 45-year-old was detained at the provincial remand centre.
