  • Print

A Shamattawa man has been arrested for firing a shot into the Shamattawa RCMP detachment early Monday using a high-powered rifle.

At the time, RCMP staff were working in the building and there were a number of prisoners in cells. However, no one was injured.

A bullet went through the garage door of the prisoner loading bay and penetrated an interior wall before lodging in a wall in the lawyer/client telephone room.

Ried Branford Hill, 32, was arrested by RCMP officers with the assistance of information received from the public.

Hill has been charged with the careless use of a firearm; mischief over $5,000; possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a weapon while prohibited.
