Man attacked in his sleep

A 25-year-old man is in critical but stable condition after being seriously assaulted in the aftermath of a party.

According to police, the party was at a home in the 500 block of College Avenue on Saturday evening. At some point, the victim and several others who also attended the party went to sleep. Sometime early Sunday morning, the victim was physically assaulted by an unknown attacker, sustaining serious upper body injuries.

The others in the home were unaware the assault occurred until finding the victim in the morning, Const. Jason Michalyshen said. Paramedics were called to the scene just after 10 a.m. today. The victim remains in hospital.

No arrests have been made. An investigation by the Major Crimes Unit is ongoing.
