Man charged after head-on collision with police car

A man is in custody and facing numerous charges following a collision with an RCMP vehicle Thursday evening.

At approximately, 6:30 p.m., a RCMP West District Traffic Services officer traveling in the R.M. of Sifton came across a 2009 Ford Expedition heading east on the Trans-Canada Highway at a high rate of speed. The officer attempted to stop the vehicle but a chase ensued through the community of Oak Lake, eventually ending with a head-on collision with a police cruiser.

The driver, a 24-year-old of no fixed address, was arrested and taken to Virden District Hospital. He was treated and released back into police custody so after. The RCMP officer was also treated for minor injuries.

Initial investigation revealed that the Expedition had been stolen from Moosomin, Sask.
