Man charged after string of robberies

A Winnipeg man has been charged in connection with five robberies and one attempted robbery in a span of less than three weeks.

The man is alleged to have stolen a vehicle from the 1200 block on Main St. on Feb. 28, then robbed a gas bar in the 900 block of Henderson Highway the same day.

He is suspected of robbing a business in the 1600 block of Regent Ave. W on Mar. 4, and an attempted robbery in the 400 block of Notre Dame Ave. the same day.

He is also alleged to have robbed a business in the 1000 block of McPhillips St. on Mar. 8, and to have stolen gas from the gas bar in the 900 block of Henderson on Mar. 17.

Police spotted the stolen vehicle on Mar. 18 near Donald St. and River Ave. and arrested the man without incident.

Steven Peterson, 22, faces numerous theft and robbery charges. He is detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
