Man charged with murder in Long Plain death
Police have arrested a 21-year-old man and charged him with second-degree murder after a body was found on Long Plain First Nation.
RCMP announced today that Cody Alexander Schmidt of Long Plain was charged in connection with the death of a 24-year-old man.

Police haven’t released the name of the victim, who is from Portage la Prairie.
The RCMP said the death happened after a fight broke out between people outside a home, and also injured a 20-year-old man and 47-year-old man.
Schmidt will be in court on Jan. 7.
Police said the investigation into what happened is continuing, and haven’t released the cause of death.
