A 29-year-old man drowned early Sunday morning on the Waywayseecappo First Nation after the car he was a passenger in went off the road and sunk in a body of water.
RCMP say a 1991 Dodge Daytona with three occupants crashed just after midnight. The 19-year-old driver and an 18-year-old passenger escaped from the sinking vehicle, but the third man did not.
The victim's name will not be released.
The driver is facing charges of impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death. He is scheduled to appear in Waywayseecappo Provincial Court on Aug. 7
Police continue to investigate.
Waywayseecappo is located about 32 kilometres east of Russell in western Manitoba.
