Man facing sexual assault charges

  • Print

A Winnipeg man is in custody following an alleged sexual assault incident last week.

The incident took place at a public pool in the St. Vital area on Apr. 9. Winnipeg police were called by a woman who said her 5-year-old son had been inappropriately touched by another person at the pool.

An investigation by members of the child abuse unit led to the arrest of the 23-year-old and he is now facing charges on a number of offences, including sexual assault on a person under 16 years of age, sexual interference and failure to comply with a probation order.

The suspect was detained at the provincial remand centre.
