  • Print

A Saskatchewan man remains in custody following an alleged kidnapping attempt Monday afternoon.

At approximately 3 p.m., a 16-year-old girl was walking south on Main Street, near Bannerman Avenue, when a man driving a red SUV tried to convince her to get into the vehicle. Failing to get the girl’s attention, the driver drove ahead and stopped in front of the girl’s path at Main and St. John’s Avenue.

He then grabbed the girl by the arm and demanded she get in the SUV. She managed to break free, and the man threw a water bottle at her before speeding away.

The SUV was identified and stopped up a short time later in the area of Salter Street and Magnus Avenue.

Julian Littlechief, 27, was arrested by Winnipeg police. He is charged with attempted kidnapping and assault with a weapon. He is being held at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
