Man in hospital after hotel stabbing

A man is in stable condition in hospital after being stabbed in a Main Street hotel on Friday night.

Winnipeg police spokesman Const. Jason Michalyshen said today that the 38-year-old man was rushed to hospital in critical condition, but he is now in stable but guarded condition.

Michalyshen said the man and woman were together at a hotel in the 600 block of Main Street when a fight broke out and the man was stabbed at about 9:10 p.m.

Police found the woman in the hotel and arrested her at about 9:35 p.m.

Sherri Mamakeesic, 40, has been charged with aggravated assault and failing to comply with her bail conditions. She has been detained in custody.
