Man jailed 4 years for huge stash of drugs
Thor Coss turned his Winnipeg home into a one-stop shop for local drug addicts -- and he received a four-year jail sentence for it on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old was caught by police in 2009 with a buffet of illegal substances hidden in virtually every room, nook and cranny of his two-storey residence. The drugs included cocaine, marijuana, Oxycodone, ephedrine, ecstasy, steroids and even Viagra.
Some of the drugs were found stuffed inside holes which had been cut out of the walls, while others were hidden inside his fridge and freezer.
Police also seized more than $42,000 cash from his bathtub, which investigators say was clearly proceeds of crime.
Coss pleaded guilty on Tuesday to drug-related charges and was given a four-year sentence.
Defence lawyer Jay Prober told court his client was addicted to drugs and got caught up in an illegal enterprise as a result. He had been seeking a conditional sentence for Coss, who has no prior criminal record and had been free on bail since his arrest.
But the judge disagreed, saying that wouldn’t be a sufficient punishment for someone like Coss who allowed the flow of illegal drugs into the community.
Coss was taken into custody at the end of his sentencing to begin serving his penalty.
