Man killed in Fishing Lake boating accident

A 52-year-old Pauingassi man is dead after he and a teenager fell out of a boat on Friday afternoon.

The pair were fishing on Fishing Lake when their engine stalled between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., Little Grand Rapids RCMP said today.

RCMP said the high winds and waves caused the men — both who weren’t wearing life jackets — to spill into the water.

The 19-year-old was the only one able to get back in the boat, and he went for help after being able to restart the motor.

A search was undertaken last night, and the older man's body was found today at about 10 a.m.

The teen was treated at a nursing station for exposure.

The name of the deceased is not being released and the investigation is continuing.
