Man run over and killed may have been lying on highway

A 38-year-old resident of the Fairford First Nation was killed late last night, run over on Highway 6 between Fairford and St. Martin junction, RCMP report.

Police said early indications are that the man was lying on the road when he was struck by a motorist.

RCMP said officers went searching for a suspected drunken man seen walking on Highway 6 when another call came in about a deceased man on the highway.

The dead man was found at about 11:20 p.m. in the southbound lane of Highway 6.

The investigation is continuing.

Anyone who has information is asked to call the RCMP Gypsumville detachment at 204-659-2682.
