A stabbing victim is stable condition this morning after an unprovoked attack close to Health Sciences Centre.
The man, 32, was walking in the area of Bannatyne Ave. and Juno Street with two friends around 3 a.m. when they were approached by a man who was armed.
"Without provocation, the suspect stabbed the victim once and fled on foot," police said in a statement Sunday morning.
The victim was in critical condition with a stab wound to the upper body when paramedics arrived. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and later upgraded to stable condition.
Police described the suspect as aboriginal in appearance, 20 to 30 years of age, and tall with an average build. He was wearing cut-off jeans.
