Man tries to grab woman off street in broad daylight

A young woman broke free from a man who tried to grab her off a city street in broad daylight on Tuesday, police said today.

The 18-year-old woman received minor injuries, but did not require treatment. Police wouldn't say how the woman was injured.

The woman was walking in the area of Rue Des Meurons and Handyside Avenue about 12:50 p.m.  when a Caucasian male operating a vehicle approached her. The man exited his vehicle and grabbed her, but she broke free, police said.

 The male is described as:

  • Caucasian
  • Balding fuzzy blonde hair
  • Skinny build
  • Wearing a white tank top and jeans

He was driving an older model, 1990s, smaller, two-door rusty vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 986-2857 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-8477.
