Man, woman wanted in two St. James armed robberies

Two robberies in St. James by a man and woman armed with weapons earlier today are being investigated by police.

Winnipeg police patrol Sgt. Monica Stothers said today that while officers are looking for a man and woman in both robberies, the incidents are considered separate at this time.

Stothers would not say what the weapons were in both robberies.

A couple went into a convenience store in the 800 block of Cavalier Street at about 12:55 a.m.

The two demanded and retrieved items from a 27-year-old male employee before fleeing. Stothers would not say what the items were.

In the second robbery, a pair went into a convenience store in the 3300 block of Portage Avenue and demanded and received cash and cigarettes from a 27-year-old female employee.

Neither convenience store employee was injured.

The suspects in the first robbery are described as a man, white, 5'10", and slim build, while the woman is five-feet tall and a heavy build.

The suspects in the second robbery are described as a man, white, six feet tall, average build, and short shaved hair while the woman is described as white and five foot to 5'7" tall.

Anyone with information on either robbery is asked to call the police major crimes unit at 204-986-6219 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
