The body of a dead male was found near Birch River Friday afternoon by civilian searchers along Highway 10, Swan River RCMP say.
The identity of the dead male was not confirmed, but a search for a missing 42-year-old man, Gordon Albert Brass, had been ongoing since the Birch River resident was first reported missing by family members on Oct. 6. A concentrated search by RCMP and local residents began on Oct. 9.
On Oct. 13, Swan River RCMP requested and obtained the assistance of the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association to conduct aerial searches of the region. The RCMP Search and Rescue team, with the assistance of the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner as well as the RCMP Police Dog Services were all assisting.
There was no indication of foul play reported during the search efforts.
Birch River is 26 kilometres north of Swan River in western Manitoba.
