A few dozen people set up shop at Portage Place early this morning and headed toward the Bay in a march to raise awareness for missing and murdered women in Manitoba.
Carrying signs saying, "Remember stolen sisters," "Please pray to stop violence against our women" and "Justice for stolen sisters," they are moving west from intersection to intersection.
Traffic tie-ups are expected during the morning commute.
A rally is planned for the intersection of Portage Avenue and Memorial Boulevard.
One organizer hinted another march is also planned for the Provencher Bridge later today, while a much larger gathering is expected tonight at an undisclosed Winnipeg location.
Organizers say the rallies are aligned with the current Idle No More campaign going on across Canada.
