Massage therapists seek health-profession status

Massage therapists in Manitoba are pushing to become the 24th recognized health profession in the province.

On Monday, the Massage Therapy Association of Manitoba is launching a campaign called "Massage therapists want to be #24."

The campaign comes after massage therapists’ recent application for professional status under the Regulated Health Professions Act. The application is awaiting review from Health Minister Theresa Oswald.

Regulation of massage therapists will protect the public from unqualified practitioners, the association said.
