Mayor's father-in-law to work for city

Mayor Sam Katz’s father-in-law is a new employee of the City of Winnipeg.

Steve Pasuta started this week as the remarketing coordinator for the Winnipeg Fleet Management Agency, chief operations officer Herbert Hajer said in a statement.

Pasuta is the father of Katz’s wife Leah, the mayor told reporters Wednesday. The city followed standard procedures in filling the position, he said.

The position was posted on the city’s website and in the Winnipeg Free Press, Hajer added.

"A number of potential candidates were considered and interviewed. As a result of this hiring process, Mr. Pasuta was considered the best candidate and was offered the position," Hajer said.

Pasuta has been listed on Jim Gauthier Chevrolet’s website as a sales associate.
