Mercury rising today, but chance of snow rising with it

Believe it or not, it’s supposed to warm up today.

Environment Canada is calling for an afternoon high of -8 C, under cloudy skies and a chance of flurries late in the afternoon.

Unfortunately the warmer temperatures will be offset by winds of 20-40 km/h gusting to 60 km/h late in the afternoon, creating a wind chill of -30.

Environment Canada is calling for a total snowfall accumulation in Winnipeg of about 2 centimetres, ending late this evening. But the windy conditions will continue.

Tonight’s low is -21 C.

Sunny skies are in the forecast for the next two days, with daytime highs Wednesday and Thursday of -19 C and -22 C, respectively.
