Mild weather ending, snow and cold on way

This is the last morning of clear sailing to work. Ole’ man winter is about to send our mild, clear weather packing.

Highs today of 2 C with sunshine will give way to freezing rain overnight, winds from the north and a low of -5 C.

That forecast will make driving treacherous.

Even worse, Environment Canada says to expect an abnormal temperature drop Thursday.

The temperature will drop to -9 C by the evening rush hour in Winnipeg, at the same time the snow starts falling. Expect accumulations of five to 10 centimetres in the city

The deep freeze and snow are sticking around for the weekend in southern Manitoba, too.

Friday’s high is -13 C, lows are -18 C, and there’s more snow Saturday.
